Are you thinking of fun places to go in California with kids? The U.S. News and World Report’s recent rankings may help you reach a decision.
The rankings listed several cities, communities and tourist places in California as some of the best in the U.S. For family vacations, theme parks and beaches in Southern California emerged as some of the best destinations for families on vacation. Take Catalina Island, for example.
Gwen Shearman, U.S. News travel editor, said that the list aims to provide tourists with different options for places to visit, whether it’s a city, beach town or national park. Nationwide, San Francisco ranked on the fifth spot as the best city to visit in the U.S., according to the rankings. Los Angeles and San Diego also joined the list.
The Sequoia National Park and Yosemite National Park in the state also landed on the 10 best parks to visit in the country. Those looking to experience the rural lifestyle in California should head to Sonoma, which ranked as the best small town destination for tourists. Other places to visit in this category included Lake Tahoe and Monterey.
Despite California’s status as a great place for tourists, destination marketing executives have sought attract more people from various demographics, particularly “super affluent” travelers. This group of tourists, who earn more than $250,000 each year, only comprise 3% of the tourism market. However, they account for 15% of the total spending among visitors.
As a result, the industry has worked to find out what this type of tourists prefers to include in their travel itinerary. Some campaigns even went to as far as Canada and the U.K. for this purpose.
California offers more than just sunny beaches, as what many people think when the state comes into mind. The variety of recreational facilities and places allows vacationers, whether young or old, to spend a relaxing time.
